Mitchel Mark & Moe Mark

Movie theater pioneers (Mitchel Mark: 1868-1918.   Moe Mark:  1872-1932).  The Mark brothers gave up their Buffalo hat business after opening what is often considered to be the world's first movie theater, i.e. the first theater dedicated solely to movies, on October 19, 1896.  It was located in the basement of the Ellicott Square Building, which still stands in downtown Buffalo.  The brothers went on to own 30 theaters in the United States and Canada.
