Elias Rex Jacobs

Publisher (1892-1979).  Lived in Buffalo 1921-1979.  Jacobs, a Columbia law school graduate, purchased the Buffalo Jewish Review in 1921 and ran it for several decades.    The Review, during his tenure, became a pro-Zionist newspaper, subscribed to the Jewish Correspondence Bureau (now Jewish Telegraphic Agency) for worldwide news and covered local community news extensively.  The circulation of the newspaper increased from 2,500 to 11,000 while he owned it.  The Review remains the chief means of communication throughout the Buffalo Jewish community.
