Baseless Hatred

Commentary by Dr. Gerhard Falk

President Trump is a German Jew

That is not true. President Trump is an American Christian. However, the treatment that he receives from the Democrats and from the media resembles the manner in which we Jews were hated because we existed. Whatever we did or did not do was cause to spread hate against us. That is exactly what is happening to President Trump. Indeed he is a very wealthy man who can defend himself, while we Jews in Nazi Germany were helpless. Of course, that makes a big difference to the victim. However, the crazy hatred with which Democrats and the media denounce everything President Trump says or does is exactly the same as the hate propaganda of the Nazis against us. Those who deny this were not in Germany during years of Nazi persecution.

I reiterate that Trump is not the victim of murder, although several prominent Democrats have said publicly that they would like to kill him.

The fact that the president has the choice of ignoring or fighting back, options which we did not have, does not excuse psychotic hatreds directed against him. Trump is an American patriot who seeks to enhance this country and keep it safe. He does  everything he can day by day “to make America great again” and he has done so much for the Jewish people that Israel has designated a town in the Golan which will bear his name. Yet, the majority of the Jewish community sides with our enemies in the media and in Congress while denouncing our friends. The House of Representatives spends all its time hating President Trump and none of its time dealing with our immigration problem or a deteriorating infrastructure. It may not have occurred to the Democrats that obstructing the president and spreading hatred against him that can also apply to a future president who is a Democrat. What the Democrats do to the Republican  president today will undoubtedly teach the Republicans that the same hate can apply against a future Democrat president. I witnessed the manner in which the Nazi party ranted against the duly elected German president before Hitler won.

For 10 years before Hitler took over in January 1933, the agitation against the democratically elected German government resembled exactly what is now being done here. Spreading hate is dangerous even for the haters, who may very well become the next target.

Philosopher George Santayana wrote: “all we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.” Let us pray that at least the members of the Jewish contingent in Congress will come to their senses and support those who support us instead of being the leaders of the Trump haters, when in fact president Trump has done more for the Jewish people in two and a half years than all the other presidents combined.

Shalom u’vracha .
