The
Independence of Israel
is without doubt the greatest
achievement of mankind. Whatever else has been achieved in the history of
man’s life on earth, nothing compares with the achievement of the Jewish
people in reconstructing our ancient homeland in part of the Land of Israel. The
entire Eretz Yisrael consists, of course, of all the land from the Mediterranean
to the Arabian desert and includes all of so-called Jordan. Jordan is the name
of eastern Israel, arbitrarily handed to some Bedouins by the British
colonialists in 1920. The Arabs who live there now are immigrants from Arabia
and have no right to be there. It is Jewish land.
That is
also true of Lebanon, a good part of Syria in addition to Golan, which was
always Jewish, and part of Iraq, the birthplace of our father Abraham.
When David
ben Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the third Jewish commonwealth on May
14, 1948, i.e. the 5th Day of Iyar 5708, he announced that the
promise of Torah had been fulfilled once more. In Berayshit (Genesis 12:17-21)
we read:…….on that day the Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying: “to
your descendants I have given this land. From the river of Egypt (the Nile),
as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.” That means that Israel owns
the entire Sinai peninsula and that Egypt has no right to be there. It also
means that all of Syria and part of Iraq are in fact the Land of Israel.
It is of
course impossible for us to visualize an Israel of such dimensions when even
that tiny piece of earth now called Israel is delegitimized by the Arab-European
axis every day. However, the miracle that is Israel today would never have been
considered possible before Theodore Herzl wrote in 1898 that “if you will it
it is no legend.” Even then, few Jews believed that a Jewish state could ever
be re-established. Yet, the Torah tells us that Israel is the only nation on
earth actually created by God. No other nation was so created.
Surely the
existence of the Jewish people is a miracle in itself. No other people have ever
been so persecuted. Yet, the Jewish people live despite the horrors of the
crusades, the inquisitions and the European death camps. The very existence of
the Jews, let alone Israel, is a miracle.
The Torah
teaches: 1. that we Jews are a people. “Berayshit (Genesis) 12:2 and 17:7.
“And I will make you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name
great. And so you shall be a blessing.. And I will establish my covenant between
me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an
everlasting covenant……
2. that
Israel has a government and a constitution. The Torah is the constitution and
the government of Israel rests on it. 3. the land of Israel (Berayshit 17:8).
And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your
residence, all of the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession……”
Not only
has the land of Israel been permanently allocated to the Jewish people, but
Jerusalem in particular is entirely and eternally Jewish. Look at Nehemiah
2:19-20. “But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and
Geshem the Arab heard about it (the rebuilding of Jerusalem) they ridiculed us.
…………I answered them by saying ‘The God of Heaven will give us success.
We, his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in
Jerusalem or any claim or right to it.”
In short,
the Arabs have no right to Yerusholayim at all. It was only after the return of
the Jews to Israel and Yerusholayim in the middle of the 19th century
that the Arabs suddenly claimed some sort of importance of the land and the city
for themselves. The truth is that the Arab immigrants to Israel came only to
grab what Jews had built. The Arabs themselves never lifted a finger to build
the land. In fact, there has never been a “Palestine”, a name invented by
the Romans for the ancient land of the Philistines in 132/135 during the Bar
Kochba revolt. Philistines haven’t really existed in thousands of years. The
Hebrew word for Philistines means invader or intruder. There are no Palestinians
today. There are only greedy Arabs who seek to benefit by Jewish labor, Jewish
investments and Jewish ingenuity.
When in
1948 Israel declared its independence, the British occupiers armed the local
Arab immigrants and assaulted the small Jewish community there in the hope of
killing all 600,000 of them. It turned out otherwise and Israel survived. Yet,
for 19 years Yerusholayim was divided until all of the city was liberated in
1967. During those 19 years the “Jordanian” Arabs destroyed every synagogue
and even the Mt. of Olives cemetery. They used the ancient tombstones to build
lavatories and paving for their streets.
The brutal
and uncaring manner in which the Arabs treated Yerusholayim is understandable
when we consider that the city has no meaning in Islam. The Quaran never
mentions Yerusholayim. But in our Neviim (prophets) we read: Zechariah 1:17
“my cities will again overflow with prosperity and the LORD will again comfort
Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”
There are
numerous other passages in the Torah making it unmistakably clear to Jews and
Christians alike that Yerusholayim is entirely Jewish. The insane lie that there
is an Arab “east Jerusalem” has been repeated over and over by the stupid
media who live by Hitler’s dictum that a lie will be believed if it is told
often enough. Yet, there has never been an Arab or “Palestinian” government
in Yersholayim and there never will be.
This bring
us to the idiot “peace process” and the Oslo war and the so-called road map
to peace. These devices to hand the terrorists rewards for murder will not
stand. Nothing the befuddled politicians can try will work except one thing. The
total and absolute control of all of Israel and all of Yerusholayim by the Jews
and the Jews alone.
Isn’t it
remarkable that a land so small and a city so remote causes so much interest in
the world? Israel is no bigger than New Jersey. Why then are so many people
interested in its fate? Why cannot the whole world forget about Israel and
Yerusholayim?
The reason
lies in the uniqueness of Israel. As ancient as we are, we are still here. Yet
no one has ever met a Hittite, Assyrian, Philistine or Amalekite. These people
are long gone. Yet, we Jews are still here. Therefore, fear not. Neither the
idiot “road map” nor the “Oslo accords” nor the “quartet” can
destroy Israel. Only we Jews can do that by our eternal in-fighting and
apostasy. Yet, even our Jewish brethren, the secularists (God bless them) cannot
destroy the Land or the People of Israel. In the words of the Declaration of
Independence of Israel as proclaimed on May 14, 1948: “Our call goes out to
the Jewish people all over the world to rally to our side ….and to stand by us
in the great struggle for the fulfillment of the dream of generations - the
redemption of Israel. With trust in almighty God, as we set our hand to this
declaration, …..in the city of Tel Aviv, on this Sabbath eve, the fifth of
Iyyar.”
We, the
American Jewish community, heard that call. We have stood by Israel these fifty
five years for our own sake, for the sake of America and for the sake of human
civilization. May it always be so, now and in all the years to come, bimhayro
v’yomaynoo,
Shalom u’vracha.
