AJCONGRESS CONGRATULATES MARV LEVY
ON INDUCTION INTO PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME:
HE WON ˜THE SUPER BOWL OF LIFE'
Declaring that "in the game of life, as in the game of football, you have
truly won the Super Bowl," American Jewish Congress Executive Director Phil
Baum today congratulated Marv Levy on his induction tomorrow into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame. The text of his statement is as follows:
It is no stereotype, but reality, to say that Jewish men are more likely
to be found as graduate students at Harvard and as teachers of English and
history, than as coaches in the National Football League. Marv Levy has done
both. Always known as a coach for his extraordinary intelligence, Levy will
be inducted tomorrow into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
We congratulate him for his achievement. In a sport that all too often
relies on brawn and intimidation, Levy's success was based on decency and
respect for his players, as well as on his profound knowledge of the game.
Marv, you've made us proud. In the game of life, as in the game of
football, you have truly won the Super Bowl.
